Advent Colander: Dec 1st

on Dec 01 in General by

[Open the door / Close the door]

I’ve been a little jealous of Kerry’s Project 365 since she started doing it. However I’m not convinced it would be very sensible to push the boundaries of my burnout by forcing myself to take a photo every day for a year. Still, I should be able to manage every day from now until Christmas; so I’ve decided that this years advent colander will be a Project of my very own creation, Project 24.

My first offering is appropriately seasonal. I am ashamed to admit that the christmas decorations in our house are already up. I just can’t help myself; I’m a christmassy type of guy.

(Just in case it’s not clear – you need to click on the “open the door” link on the colander door above to see the photo)

    Woohoooo you’re back!

Oh I’ve missed your wit and humour, was it only a month???

I like the colander – did you know that at The Hard Rock Hotel they served my salad in a colandar?

I’m so excited for tomorrows door now – really!

Up?? You’re supposed to take them down?! Who knew?

  • Kirsty says:

Despite being more of a ‘Bah Humbug’ person, I do enjoy looking at other people’s Christmas decorations.

  • Arjan says:

wow..and you’re throwing about with your blog design too.

I’ve been gradually put off Christmas over many years, but I’ve found that by not watching TV much for the last two years, I’ve avoided all the really annoying Christmas adverts, and thus avoided being made grumpy during October and November.

Last year and this, I’ve managed to rekindle the genuine excitement of Christmas.

I’m even considering an advent calendar of my own, via my student community website – along the lines of your Advent Colander, but without the fancy web-tech gubbins of opening and closing doors.

I’m not sure I’d be able to do each day at a time, so I might just put them all online, and trust people not to look at them until the due date…

I very much approve of your facial hair experimenting (photos on the right). Nicely done!
When were those taken? (I was recently made aware of ‘Movember’ – not shaving during November. I don’t fully understand the reasons for it yet,but I didn’t shave anyway).

Oh, and I really like the new blog style. Seems slightly different, but a whole lot better.

Gail – Was it Jimmie Hendrix’s colander, because if it’s not then i’m just not interested.

Ed – Well, either take them down or just paint over them.

Kirsty – What about looking at other people’s humbugs?

Arjan – I’m having a play with the blog design it’s true. thought it was about time to move the furniture around a bit.

Whit – I’m surprised you have time to sleep.

Rol – you know, i had half an idea that would be your reaction:)

Oli – I’ve got vague ideas of throwing a Christmas party actually. You around at any point during the run up to Christmas?

I did the beard experiment thing about a year ago now. I was just messing around in my flickr account and saw it and thought it would fit nicely into the sidebar until I can think of something better to go there.

nice shot and nice idea. I have become a big proponent of the 365, but doing a mini version is also applauded.

boxes are out of the attic, some stuff put up, but I should really get on the ball. it’s a great time of year!

Dab ==n you are so clever with the technical stuff young man, I love your colanders. As you know we’re there with our decorations too already. I love it. :D

  • Dan says:

Jo – It’s not that clever really. it’s just a frame with no borders and the links target different jpgs to it. I stole it from someone else’s blog a year or so ago. I can send you the code if you want.
