Mmmm… credit crunchy

So the world loses another bank and I become even more uneasy about my recent decision to go part time. Theoretically we should be OK. Kerry and I both work for the public sector which should provide at least some level of security. Plus I work as a mental health crisis nurse in Halifax, a town that may well be on the verge of loosing it’s major employer. I see plenty of depressed ex-HBOS workers in my future I’m afraid.

Still, it’s time to watch the pennies. I’ve just discovered Quidco.com and have made over £200 on it simply by switching a couple of bank accounts and credit cards around. The fact that this is paying for my new iPod touch is completely beside the point. It’s still saving money damnit.

I’ve also been reading Jeff’s excellent guide to reducing debt. If you haven’t checked it out already then do so, it’s well worth a look.

But the economizing move that I am most proud of is my fantastic new iPod case.

For some reason my iPod’s screen has picked up a few minor scratches recently. This never happened to my old one, must be all the diamonds I’m carrying around in my pockets.

I did a little bit of online research and discovered that a half decent iPod case was going to cost me around £20. Scandalous! You could buy 200 packets of space raiders for that!!

So using the expert craftsmanship that has been handed down through generations of Hughes’ I lovingly fashioned my own bespoke case. Behold:

Not bad eh? I’m thinking of setting up my own Etsy shop, I could make a fortune!

Is Evan aware you’re stealing his socks and stretching them out? You may have to negotiate with him which could cost you more than £20!

Thanks for the nod on my story. I’m hoping a few people can use that information.

That iPod case is awesome. I love how it curves at the end as a handy headphone holder ;-)

I hadn’t scrolled down to the picture yet and ankle socks sprung in my mind as thé solution, so it’s not that crazy (erm…that is if I’m sane..or something).

There’s been a ruckus about Icesave because there are around 10 000 people overhere who’ve got an account overthere and are afraid their gonna lose all their money.
Next to that there’s still the whole take-over of ABN & Fortis. A friend of mine made over at Maartenjalink.nl has made a fitting photoshop for the take-over. Just check the pic at his last post (I hope no people will be offended too much) I know the posts are in Dutch, but the pic speaks for itself.

I’ll be able to say I knew you when….

Oh, and in a pinch your new iPod Touch case can also serve as a very fine–mitten.

Xbox – I have documented here before my complete surrender to my US spell checker.

Jeff – Evan is easily bought with a chocolate milkshake and the train episode of something special.

VegasDad – They are indeed. I’m wearing one instead of underpants now (thanks go to the red Hot Chili Peppers for the tip)

Kevin – Oh yes, I covered all the bases in the extensive consultation period.

James – I’ve written a letter to Apple, so all I need to do is simply wait until they come begging for the license.

Rol – So it’s YOU who is routing around my underwear drawer at night!

Arjan – There’s a fair few Englsih investers too. It was all over the radio yesterday morning.

Morticia – Hasn’t she just gone bankrupt though? I’m sure I heard that somewhere.

Ed – Or a sleeping bag for a mouse or small rat.

Jo – She does! We were lucky to find a matching pair.

Avitable – You do realise that is a tiny child sized sock? Oh, you were talking about your penis.

Jon – I’m holding out for Bill Gates. I’m betting he will come out of retirement just to seal a deal with me

DC Urban Dad – Sure. Wait, is “vigorously sucked” the same as washed?

and I almost missed this post. You really need to do a collection of touchcases. A cool one with Santa on for Christmas, a bright and cheery springtime one etc etc and of course even we I phone users could use them if times get harder.
