This is going to be the last time I run this particular quiz. And with the score at one all it looks like this one is going to be the decider. It’s the contest of the century folks, and you saw it here first.

Ok, so just in case you didn’t catch this last time, here are the rules:

Saturdays questions will be for British people, and Sundays for the Americans. If you are neither of these nationalities then just pick a side.

Saturdays questions for the British team will be posted at 12 noon London Time (currently GMT +1). Sunday’s questions for the American Team will be posted at 12 noon Chicago time (currently GMT –5).

The winning team will be the ones who answer the most questions correctly. In the case of a tie the team which has taken the shortest amount of time to answer their questions correctly will be the winner. The contest will be open for exactly one week. There is no prize other than basking in the glorious knowledge that your nation is truly superior to all others.

Here we go for the final time with the tunes for team GB:

  • Kerry says:

2 is Ground Force, 7 is Parkinson and 5 is that soap set somewhere like Southampton “Always there, your love is always there…”

but 3, 4, 6, 9 and 10 are annoying me because I know them but can’t think what they are

  • Morticia says:

    1 Sex and the City
    2 Groundforce
3 Blind Date (I’m appalled that I know this and blame my mothers poor taste in tv viewing)
4 You Bet – or some other equally dreadful saturday night light entertainment awfulness – why can’t reruns of Steptoe and Son or Morecambe and Wise be shown instead?
    5 Howards Way
6 Miss Marple – the ones with Joan Higson not Margaret Rutherford who was a far more entertaining if not true to the books version
7 Parkinson – who I saw this morning advertising funeral plans
8 Tomorrows World – bring back Judith Hann
    9 Animal Magic
10 Pictures At An Exhibition by Mussorgsky aka The New Statesman.

Frankly I’m ashamed that I knew some of these (or at least think I did) if I’ve got 1-5 wrong I won’t be sad.

PS If I am right do I win a prize?

  • Dan says:

Kerry – 2 and 7 are right, and you were on the right lines with 5 too.

Morticia – You can’t complain about Higson not being true enough to the character of Miss Marple when you like the travesty of Holmes that is Rathbone. And you are rignt on all of those except number 1.

So can this be a record breaking quick time? Does anyone out there know number 1?

  • morticia says:

You misunderstand me – I think Joan Higson is a far better recreation of the character of Miss Marple as written in the books, its just that I love the Margaret Rutherford incarnation more. Plus her Miss Marple was in black and white and everything is better in black and white.

That number 1 is really bugging me – is it an american import?

  • Morticia says:

Plus just realised no 1 is Louis Theroux’s Weird Weekends!!!!!!

Please can I have a prize? *grin*

  • Wow. That was quick! I’d got six of them, but Morticia has done us proud.

That first one sounds very “1960s ITC”. Someting like Man in a Suitcase or Department S, or that sort of thing.

Edit: Bravo. I’d never have got that, I can’t stand Theroux!

  • JJ Daddy-O says:

Joan Higson as Marple always reminded me of Tweety Bird, but not as much as Angela Lansbury in Murder She Wrote.

  • Dan says:

Stop the clock at 3 hours 58 minutes. An extremely strong showing by Morticia there.

  • Morticia says:

Never mind strong showing – do I get a prize or are you going to say what the nuns used to say at school which was that you should just be thankful that God had given you the brains to win and you shouldn’t be materialistic as your reward was in heaven……..

…..when actually its because my Mum loved watching crap tv and because we only had one television when I was growing up *grin*

  • Dan says:

No prize other than a sense of satisfaction that you may have helped your country beat the yanks.

You’re worse than the nuns, I can’t flog that on ebay ;-)

  • Arjan says:

I thought I’d check out the questions for the Brits..but I didn’t recognize any of them..and I only watched Miss Marple..but that’s been ages ago.

I hope I can get a quick shot at the US questions tomorrow.
