Which came first, the Jerry Chicken or the Good Egg?

Only 8 days left to go until the walk and for some strange reason I’m still unfit and overweight. I just don’t understand it, I’m drinking loads of Diet Coke so the pounds should be falling off me.

Today’s good egg award goes to Gary from Jerry Chicken who has put one of his fantastic watercolors on ebay All proceeds of the sale will go to the Joseph Salmon Trust. It’s too late to bid I’m afraid as it quite rightly sold within the hour. Still, there is always next time.

The man has talent I’m sure you’ll agree.

Not only that, but he has also publicly announced that he’ll do an entire series paintings using photos we take whilst on the walk as a reference and sell those too.

As I say, a good egg. Unfortunately I don’t have a photo of Gary and so can’t honor him by sticking his head in an egg cup like I did for Avitable. I’m afraid he’ll have to make do with this picture I stole from the internet.

Thanks go also to Rol, Ed (Zoe’s dad), and (un)relaxeddad who have all given the walk a plug on their blogs today. Cheers guys. I especially liked Ed’s description of us as “Dan and his Lunatic Fringe” – I’m very tempted to get some t-shirts printed.

Gary/Jerry is one of my absolutely favorite artists. I don’t often have time to read all of his diary stories, but I NEVER miss a viewing of his gorgeous paintings. Plus, he has great taste in music videos. Good job Gary/Jerry… at the price you sold your last one, even I can afford to bid next time!

Jeff – I think I’ve said it here before, but Gary is one of the few people I’ll tolerate a really long post from. In fact I often relish them. I know this is rather rich from a man who’s own post word count can reach the low millions; but still, there it is

That’s an awesome painting. That’s quite generous of him.

It keeps me out of mischief and saves me having to watch three hours of Hollyoaks, Emmerdale, Corrie St and Eastenders every frikkin night.

As for selling them – my wife hates them, there are none on our walls at home, but then again apart from marrying me she has shown the most awful lack of taste over the past 25 years…

    Gary Jerry has some talent!

I hope that the pictures from the walk are scenery and not the guys- unless he puts it on black velvet, then it can go next to my Elvis and Dogs Playing Poker.

James – I really am staggered how generous the people on the internet have been. It’s amazing.

Gary – You’re wife’s bad taste is our gain. I can’t see how anyone could hate your work.

Arjan – We’re getting there now.

Whit – If he did do paintings of us we could always sell them to the York Dungeon or some other house of horror.

I once walked past a queue outside York Dungeon with some of my other black-clad chums, for one of the attendants to shout ‘Oi, shouldn’t you be inside?’ – the cheek of the man. Still that was better than being referred to as a ‘rock chick’ earlier today – honestly some people have no idea of goth subculture ;-)

Anyways plasters and that kind of thing posted to you today, hope Postie doesn’t decide to keep them for him or herself.

What a fabulous albeit impractical design idea for a plaster. I have got some somewhere with pictures of Jesus on and some with skull and crossbones on but no these are bog standard supermarket own label ones…..very boring and fingers crossed you and your merry band of walkers won’t have to use any…..or hardly any in the course of your trek.

I’d really like some coffin shaped or engraved with coffin shapes kitchen cupboard doors but Mr Pops says no….

Morticia – I think Mr Pops is probably a very wise man

Jo – I think he meant fringe as in the people around me, the other walkers. Anyway I have got a fringe, it just starts somewhere down my back.
