Obama

So it looks like America has now elected Barack Obama as its president. It’s been a long road but there is now a African American in the White House and it is time to reflect on how far the USA has come since the days of…

What?

Primaries? John McWho? It’s not over?

Oh for fucks sake.

Can’t you Americans get a bloody move on? How long does it take to elect a president anyway? Can’t you just take a leaf from South America’s book? They get through about three new ones a week down there, far more efficient.

Still I suppose I better resign myself to reading about the American election for the next hundred years or so. I wouldn’t mind, but I recently made some enquiries and apparently I’m not even allowed to vote. Pure blatant racism, that’s what I call it.

only the next hundred years or so… No Dan. We are a long winded people. Expect at least 500 years of chit chat about it ;)

Don’t worry, he’ll be our president in November.

They should forget the rest of it and just have a race, like a sprint. 100m. Winner takes all.

I wish people from England could vote. You guys would vote for someone of color no matter what, unless he’s a Paki.

Yeah, no “snap” elections over here like you backwards Europeans are used to. Over here, we have this thing called Political Stability, where election dates are known long in advance.

The downside is that election dates are known long in advance.

I thought the above too. And now I’m embarrassed as I bet you were just being sarky. And Xbox4nappyrash’s comment was hilarious.

McCain has said that he would like to go to Congress and hold a questions session similar to when the Prime Minister goes to the House of Commons. Yeah, right. What a massive disaster that would be for everybody involved, especially the viewing public.

Our election is in November, so you won’t have to read about it that much longer. However, as soon as the election is over, the race to the White House for 2012 begins. Hooray for perpetual presidential races!

I would like to see a closed cage death match for the presidency. I think Clinton would have won that.

zzzzzzzzzzz - sorry, I’ve forgotten what the post was about. Wake me up when it’s all over. Dan you been out training lately - hope so you got some of my money to walk for, I want nothing less than blisters.

Don’t the computers of Florida decide who the American President is?

Camikaos - 500 years? Kill me now.

Ed - News anchorman, a tempting career change I must admit.

Penelope - I think the fact they refuse to allow me a vote just because I am English is deplorable.

Whit - Somebody bloody better be or I’ll write a strong letter of complaint to my MP.

Xbox - I think that’s actually how it works in Canada.

Avitable - I think that sadly you are probably right there.

Rattling the Kettle - The downside is that everyone else knows the dates long in advance. We don’t get to hear about Greenland’s elections in such detail.

Jo - I must admit I was being a little sarky. Sorry.

Brandon - Or alternatively we could just accept you back into the British Empire.

ImPerceptible - BAD AMERICAN, GO TO YOUR ROOM.

Joe - That sounds like a fantastic way to realize one of my ultimate dreams - Mr T for president!

Gail - I did get your money, thank you very much. and I’ve not been out training due to sick children, but I’m planning on a ten mile walk tomorrow.

SingleParentDad - No, I think that’s the Bush family.

I reckon as a Canadian being so close we should have a vote on the president. Canada could have been the tie breaker, then we would have avoided this whole mess with GWB in the first place.

I would like to see a Eurovision Song Contest telephone vote stylee thing for all leadership elections regardless of which country they are in.

In fact they could just set up the Eurovision vote rigging equipment on a permanent basis and some small country that you didn’t even know was a country until Eurovision could decide who is the next president of the world for us.

He would come from a Balkan country of course.

Like everything American, its all about the money that business (tv) can make by stretching it out and forcing us into watching and waiting.

If there is a single American out there who hasnt figured out who they want to vote for yet they should loose that right.
