New arrivals
on Apr 24 in General by DanYesterday morning we came downstairs to find that where we once had two guinea pigs, there now were five. Hurrah, babies!
I have been in negotiations with our local kebab shop and they are more than happy to take them off our hands next Tuesday.

Ohhh they are actually quite cute! Don’t they squeak constantly though?
I can’t talk, we have a dog, 4 cats and 2 pet rats at our place ;o)

I had the same thing happen to me with hamsters. One night I had two “boys”… and the next day I had two “boys” and a dozen pink little things.
I would offer to take two off your hands… but I don’t think they’d survive the flight in cargo.

Ahh they are so cute. And how easy is guinea pig labour? I mean why the hell do we have to get it so hard? They just plop out four or five and carry on munching the grass. Tsk.

cool critters. I once had a rabbit that’s been ages. And the Russian Dwarf hamster in my house lost the fight with our cat.
Can’t you just roast them? Sounds like a recipe: roast guinea pig

Oh how cute – baby Neep Neeps!
My neighbour has a shed full of rabbits and neep neeps which I look after when they go away.
Neep Neeps is what Alexander called them when little – because that’s the noise they make.
You are such a soft clart – there is no way you’d sell them to the kebab man!

Congrats to the happy parents. Any “Where do babies come from” questions?

Someone once told me, and he was serious, that he would take the day old rabbits that had appeared in our hutch off our hands as they are delicious when fried in a little garlic butter while their bones are still soft.
Of course I didn’t hand them over.
They died two days later.

Jo – something to do with the link between our intelligence and brain size (and therefore head size).
Though judging by some of the other comments on this thread, I suspect the posters’ mothers may have had an easier time of it…
you could always bring them to the canal with us on the 11th and kill two birds with one stone.
There’s a show on the Travel Channel called “Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern.” If Andrew is to be believed, guinea pigs do indeed taste delicious. He ate barbequed guinea pigs in South America somewhere, skewered on a stick.
I am not recommending this.
Woohoo! Er, congratulations?
