Grey

Just because you get a few grey hairs doesn’t mean you are getting old. Taylor Hicks hair started going grey at the age of twenty and Steve Martin had completely white hair by the age of thirty.

If, just as a random example, a thirty two year old male blogger noticed three white hairs in his beard yesterday morning; it wouldn’t mark the beginning of his inevitable slide into decrepit old age would it? Going bald is one thing, but going bald and grey would be most disagreeable. Surely it would be just a freak of nature rather than any kind of portent of a retreating youthful vitality?

All this is purely hypothetical of course.

On another note I’ve been playing with photoshop recently. This photo is a result of me trying to fake a method of trying to fake a method to produce fake model village photographs. Or something like that, the whole thing confuses me to be honest.

Anyway this is a real street in our village that I have photoshopped to look like a fake model street. Or possibly it’s the other way around. I can’t remember now. Oh god, you don’t think its senility setting in do you?

Hmmm, definitely not old. Especially as a 33 year old female blogger has also found a few greys, though not in her beard. Looking on the positive side, the greys are thicker than her normal wispy locks, so when it’s all grey she will have thick hair for the first time in her life ever.

And it does kind of look like a model village. It’s a bit Thomas The Tank Engine. Very pretty.

I’m not so sure about the slide to old age but you may have just turned onto the street labeled—dead end!

I say shave the beard. That’ll teach them hairs.

If that wás a real street…you could’ve fooled me. The instant I saw it..I was like..hey those look like model houses. Now don’t come with the story that it’s the other way around cause then: 1 I’ve made a fool out of myself and 2 I offended you ;)

I shaved my beard..but I’ve hopefully got at least 8 years for grey hairs will appear there ^^

    Grey in your thirties??? Hah!

I started going grey when I was …. 19 !!! Yes. 19. Just like my mom.

Surprisingly (or not) it was the same year I got married.

    So I blame hubby.

If it weren’t for hairdye, I would have been completely grey years ago.

    Cool job on the Photoshop.

Nice work with the Photoshop! I’ve been playing around with it myself lately. Have you checked out the new photography blog that Ree at The Pioneer Woman just started? Cool tips and a few Photoshop actions to play with.

My current state of denial won’t let me comment on the grey hair. I’m sure you’re mistaken and it was bad lighting. Yeah. That’s it.

Will that mean you have a salt n pepper beard? or just salt & pepper (and a few other leftovers) IN your beard?

I used to pull dark hairs out of my head when I was young and very blonde. At least being a true blonde – even with a little help these days means you don’t have to worry about grey.

Yep you did a great job of the fake model street. Why would you want to do that or did I miss THAT blog?

I remember back in college, finding a grey hair on my future hubby’s head and him saying quite defensively, “It’s not a grey hair! It’s a no-pigment hair!”

Now that he’s got several grey hairs along his temple I *love* it. Now me being blonde it’s hard to find grey hairs but I actually can’t wait. I want to have long flowing grey hair…no hair dye in my future.

At least that’s what I say now.

When I grow my beard out my chin is totally grey, almost white. It stinks as that’s the one place I’d like to keep some hair (besides my head), but not at the expense of looking like a 32-year-old blogger.

I’ve never actually used Photoshop, so I don’t know if the picture above represents two clicks or two weeks, but I like it. Or else there really are places that look like that over where you live. I hear going overseas changes one’s perspective.

Jo – When you do get grey hairs in your beard be sure to let me know.

Miss Britt – It’s a pretty easy effect to do. I got the tutorial from here: http://www.recedinghairline.co.uk/tutorials/fakemodel/

Rol – It makes Rol look distinguished, It makes Rol look distinguished, It makes Rol look distinguished. No, not helping.

Ed – The problem with shaving my beard is that then people will be able to see my face

Arjan – Nope it was a real street. At least I think it was.

Maureen – Grey when you are 19 you can put down to being aquirk of nature. In your thirties it just means you are getting old

    CamiKaos – Yes Private Fazier

Arjan – So it’s you I have to blame!

    Xbox4NappyRash – There’s always a bright side I suppose.

Jeff S – Now I’ve noticed one I keep finding new ones. It’s not fair I tell you.

JenK – Thanks for the link, that’s a really cool blog.

Gail – Why would you want to do the photo. Erm… I don’t know. Come to think of it my entire life has been completely pointless. Thanks for that Gail. You’ve wrecked my entire day.

Becky – Yours are rather more impressive than mine.

Jason – It’s all right for you, you don’t have any hair!

Chick – I can’t dye my beard though. You women have absolutely everything easier than us men.

Oli – My beard is not multicoloured damn you.

Joe – Trust me, you don’t want to see me clean shaven

    Kristina – Bloody hippies.

Above average Joe – Yeah but I’m balding AND greying

Whit – Yes but you are really old so that’s just natural for you.

Holmes – it was somewhere between two clicks and two weeks.

I discovered my first grey hair at age 16. Granted, I only have a few more now at the age of 29.9 (birthday next week — d’oh!), but that first shiny glint made my heart stop. So no worries. You’re not old, just wiser.
