Seven sets of eight things

A long time ago in a country far, far away the delightful Ms CamiKaos tagged me with a meme. Unfortunately I became far too carried away with blogging about He-Man and My Little Pony and other earth shattering topics and so it was placed on the back burner.

I have done some extensive (three minutes of) research on what the hell a “bonce is” and found the following site http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-bon2.htm

It means head. So Dan says, “Banana Head” a lot. I’m not sure of the context, though it doesn’t sound like a high compliment.

Sooo… you probably wouldn’t be too thrilled to hear I’m meeting with my son’s school tomorrow regarding some kind of “gifted” class, huh?

Miss Britt- My views on it all are complicated, and very affected by the fact that I was placed in the bottom sets at school which gave me extremely low self esteem for quite a while.

    I wrote about it here.

I know that I will fight tooth and nail to keep Amy or Evan out of a bottom set if it is ever suggested. Extra classes yes, segregated into the “thickies” class no. Mainly my concerns lie with the increasing obsession in testing kids every few months causing unneeded stress and anxiety that this countries education system appears to have.

Congratulations on your son’s genius though:)

I hate to be a pedant (well, actually, that’s not true – I love it!), but there were only seven in the first set of answers…

I might do this one myself. Thanks for not tagging me, because then I wouldn’t have been able to.

I think I need to go put on my Crowded House CD right NOW. It has been too long since I’ve heard that song… but really the whole album I could hear on repeat and be happy.

Is it coincidence that if you string your first 4 favorite sayings together you get “Marvelous Jolly good Arse Sweetheart”?

Wow, thanks for reminding me about ‘The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid – Bill Bryson’ – I was reading it before I moved and it just got shoved on the shelf… Just finished Shakespeare by Bryson which was genius, meaning once I finish Thunderbolt I will once again be completely up to date with that genius’ collection!

Strangely enough, I have a kind of image of you in my head (banana or otherwise. And I really must have another go at Gravity’s Rainbow) that coincides a great deal with that of Bill Bryson. Or at any rate, the Bill Bryson he creates in his books. Except frequently funnier.

Casey – Banana bonce is usually reserved to be directed towards one of my children.

Avitable – I can spot a personality disorder at three hundred meters

Rol – Damn, but I have nothing else I am passionate about. Except donkey porn of course and I’m a little reluctant to include that here.

CamiKaos – Kerry and i went to see Crowded House a couple of months ago. They were rather good.

Jeff – It was, but I’m rather pleased with it never-the-less

Kristina – I am still awaiting the rituals of pregnancy post. I’ve always found such things interesting. Like the fact that it is highly debated that swabbing the site of an injection is thought to be largely pointless, yet nurses still do it because “We always have”.

Bec – The life and times of the Thunderbolt kid was very good. i hadn’t even heard about his Shakespeare one.

Tracy – you have my unreserved apologies.

(un)relaxedad – That is extremely kind of you, thank you.

Sam – That was pretty great wasn’t it.
