The magnificent thirteen

We now have the final lineup for our 78 mile sponsored walk in aid of the Joseph Salmon Trust.

Quite how I managed to persuade all these people to participate is beyond me. I suspect however it has great deal to do with the fact that my friends are a bunch of jolly good eggs.

Craig, Dave, Gav, Lee, Mushy, Oli, Paul, Rich, Brooky, Sandip and myself are all walking the entire length of the Dales Way over six days in July of next year. Jez and Jim will only be with us for a few of those days due to other commitments.

Make sure you follow the Dales Walk blog to keep up to date on how the planning, training, and fund raising is going (you could even link to it if you are feeling particularly charitable).

This is going to be great. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go away and try to find a place for us all to sleep each night.

Thirteen? In this case that sounds like a lucky number. You’re all very lucky to be doing this. Great for charity, but more memorable for your lives. It’ll be one to talk about for years to come. Wish I could be there.

Dad, I think I found a typo. This post reads “78 mile sponsored walk.” Surely you meant to type 7 or 8???

And I though you folks worked with kilometers over there.

Hmmm…that looks like some weird Freudian situation up there. I meant to write Dan, not Dad. Really. I swear. Though I am bald.

I don’t think I’ve walked 78 miles cumulatively in my entire life.

Oh, and another thing – a poem by Steve Martin that I cannot get out of my head –

Oh Pointy Bird, Oh pointy pointy, Anoint me bird, Anointy nointy.

Also, just been looking at the pics of the team – looks like there may be a risk of ‘Deliverance’ type shenanigans occuring during this walk – Mushy looks especially suspect.

Sandip – The Man with Two Brains i believe. Although with the Dad crack I think The Jerk may be more appropriate.

Dad… er I mean DAN, I will join you on your walk and round it out to an even 14. Please send me round trip plane tickets, salary compensation for 2 weeks, and prepaid lodging arrangements. Looking forward to it!

Is that in dollars Jeff? Because if it is I’m sure I have some spare change down the back of the couch which I’m sure will just about cover it.
