I once went to a party where you had to go as someone 'dead and famous' and a man came along dresed as Karen Carpenter with earrings made out of slim fast cans. He made me and Mr Pops look tasteful - we had gone as Paula Yates and Michael Hutchens.

Far from it Jeff, having previously had my singing described at "like loose change in a washing machine" and often been told I'm tone deaf I'm unsure there will be any X-Factor moments on this blog any time soon.

Although I do fear the damage has already been done and Christmas is going to be filled with reditions of Carpenters songs. Darn you brother-in-law, you have bested me again with your cute child weapon!

Little Boy likes "A Song for You" by The Carpenters. But he does also dig some Clash too. He's cool like that .

Contrary - I think your five year old would treat the my-Pod with contempt. It's basically a baby's beeping musical toy with the word Pod written on it.

So is the My-Pod for little ones? Because I have one turning 5 next week and he's been wanting an I-pod, but because his mother has not lost her cotton pickin' mind, so far he hasn't got his wish.

I know Karen is an alto and all, but I'm assuming Uncle Neil has a fairly high voice if Amy thought it was him?

Of course you know you must now force him to sing this on video for our viewing pleasure.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who feels compelled to provide a foundation for what my kids are listening to. Case in point. Just yesterday my 5 yr old son asks to hear, Johnny Appleseed--Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros (cool enough) but I decided we needed to establish a foundation. Dude, if you're going to listen to this you need to know where it came from--We ROCKED to London Calling, Should I Stay and Train in Vain all the way home.
