I want to keep chickens too. I was about to start, but then that swan (and the accompanying bird flu) ended up in Cellardyke, just about 6 miles from my house. I figured it wasn’t the best time to start.
But seeing as that’s all pretty much blown over, I might give it another go.
Fresh eggs. And apparently you can feed chickens anything. I’ve got some unwanted coal in the shed – that ought to keep them going for a while but might make the eggs taste a bit funny.

Chickens are the new dog in many parts of America (California!?!) They do a good job of foraging and love table scraps – and “free range” eggs are DELICIOUS! Let me know if you want me to plead your case (yours and Evan’s) with Kerry. I have 25 layers in my back yard – and a few guinea fowl to keeps the ticks and mosquitoes in check.
