And a new form of therapy is born

Amy’s nursery had an educational visit from the fire brigade on Monday. The first I knew about it however was today when the staff gave me a photo of her standing proudly in a fire engine, grinning ear to ear and wearing a firefighter’s helmet.

The topic at nursery this month is “People who help us”. Apparently they are also getting visits from the police and the paramedics. I wanted to grab myself some of the hero worship, and so told Amy:

“When I go to work my job is helping people too” I told her.

“Yes you do don’t you Daddy”.

“Yes. I try to make people who are sad feel happy again”.

“Yes you do. You pull funny faces for them don’t you”.

“You know, that just might work”.
