On the contrary dear sir, most birds are omnivores â€“ they eat a lot of insects and worms and stuff.

Our most regular visitors are robins, blue tits and great tits, with the odd sparrow thrown in for good measure. They already take stuff form fat balls we have hanging up so I donâ€™t think itâ€™s the meat thatâ€™s putting them off. I think itâ€™s probably that itâ€™s just a bit unfamiliar at the moment.

I think most garden birds are veggie (unless you have a kestrel living in your garden).
Lard isn’t veggie. This could be why the birds aren’t chowing down on your feeders.

Peanut butter might make a more appealing adhesive, though you might have to warn the birds that the product contains nuts.

Imagine being a chaffinch with a nut allergy. Nature can be so cruel.

Don’t worry about cheating……Sometimes you need an explanation…..I believe I’m one of the worst cheaters though I post WW as a method to teach with so my cheating has a noble end, right?

Don’t worry about the birds….they’ll come around eventually. The time you and your daughter spent together….well, that’s just food for the soul and that’s always nutritious.
