Happy Birthday Dan
on Feb 01 in General by KerryToday is Dan’s 31st birthday so Amy and I made him a cake. Amy wanted Dan to have a rainbow and clouds, like her cake did.
She also wanted slugs and snails and worms, as she and Dan have a running gag about making each other eat them. Here is our creation:
Happy birthday my dear, we all love you very much

Happy birthday, Dan!
Dude, we got the same birthday. I knew there was a reason I liked you.
Suprisingly, today, I found out that two others have my birthday at work too. I haven’t run into new birthday buddies like that in years.
I hope that cake tastes as good as it looks. Ellis and Rachel made me blackberry pancakes in bed and I have apple crisp tonight.
Maybe having a birthday on the 1st of February is a european thing:)
Personally I’ve always felt just a little disappointed that I wasn’t born on the 2nd, Groundhog day!
Wow, that’s a rainbow? For some reason, the first thing I thought of was a multi-colored high-heel shoe stomping the shit out of a few bugs on the ground! Just goes to show you where my head is…
Happy 31. God, I wish I was 31 again (I have modest wants.)
Happy Birthday!! It’s still 1 February here for another 4-5 hours.
That’s a beautiful design… You could put in a frame and hang it on the wall.
Dan, our family all wishes you the best birthday ever. I, also, would love to be back at age 31, but I’ve decided since it’s your birthday, you can have it.
The cake looks great. Hope you had a wonderful, stupendous day!
Pssst. The slug bodies – they’re licorice all sorts. You might want to skip those. A friend of mine sent me some once. They’re kind of like chewing on those little rubber feet they put on the bottom of electronics. . . with sugar. Regardless, there’s nothing that could diminish the magnitude of artistic accomplishment that is your cake.
You’re a lucky man. Happy birthday, Dan!
That’s nothing Greg. A friend of mine once sent me a packet that was labeled New Orleans style red beans and rice but in actual fact was industrial strength laxative.
Many Happy Returns!!!!!!!!
The cake looks stunning – Jane Asher had better watch out.
love the slugs and snails. what a masterpiece! (the cake and it’s recipient, of course!) congratulations on the anniversary of your birth, dan!
How that is a funky cake.
Happy Birthday Dan!.
I was quite pleased with it myself. One of the things I remember about being little was the special birthday cakes my mum used to make (a princess castle and ‘pig sty’ in particular).
I want to be one of those mums who make their kids’ cakes, but I haven’t managed it so far. This was my first attempt at something decorative and I’m now looking forward to making birthday cakes from now on. I even managed to let Amy do some of it without changing it afterwards…
The rainbow would have been more of an arch if we’d had enough of each colour, but after opening 4 packets we only had 6 red. They’re all pink and purple these days, which is fine by Amy of course.
Tastes quite nice too, that’s a Nanny Vi’s sponge cake for those in the know. Never lets you down :)
Happy Birthday buddy. Our birthdays are only a day apart; though crap, I’m a helluva lot older than you. :)
Hope you have a great one.
Beautiful cake, Amy!
