Kerry and I went to the Health Visitor today to get the kids weighed and measured. There is a school of thought that argues that all this focus on percentile charts and and statistics is both misleading and pointless. Babies are different shapes and sizes and unless they are obviously failing to thrive we should just leave it at that. Not me however. I treat the whole process as some sort of live action top trumps game. Yeah yeah, he’s 16lb, but does that mean he can beat other babies in a fight?
Both Evan and Amy have slipped somewhat in the rankings recently. Evan’s gone down from the 95th percentile for hight to the 75th, and Amy has done similar. There is nothing to worry about, everything is perfectly normal, that’s just the way that our kids are developing. Still, that doesn’t stop me from looking up racks on ebay.
