Nothing dull about that. Or maybe I’m just at an age where it doesn’t take much to excite me. :)
But it’s always interesting to see how people have arranged their yards and gardens, so I enjoyed your video. We’ve toyed with the idea of chickens. Still mulling it over. They certainly look more friendly than ducks.
Stay warm.
I’m not sure I’ve “arranged my yard”, more “vaguely directed the neglect”
And a fine view too.
Have a good Christmas to you and yours Dan; as always I’ve enjoyed your blog this year.
Might even pop up to Eagle music in the new year
Mark
It’s a lot nicer from slightly higher up, I just didn’t want to move all the chicken wire out of the way.
That view is stunning, and it’s a nice backyard :)
We live in a beautiful area of the world. I grew up where they filmed Last of the Summer wine:
I LOVE Last of The Summer Wine :)
So sad to hear it’s been cancelled after all these years.
But we’ll always have repeats on UKTV ;)
I liek it too, although it’s not fashionable to do so. I lived 100m from sids cafe and directly oposite (the back) of Cleggs house. When they were filming I had to walk an alternative way home from school and they used to compensate me by giving me buns from the catering truck.
To be hoest I think they were best off stopping it before Peter Sallis (clegg) passed away. He was always the soul of the show.
Still has the title of longest running comedy in the world though. Which is impressive considering they were old when it started!
I want a spring & summer version of the tour.
As for my ‘garden’ ..you’ve probably seen photo’s of the stuff people throw down out of the flat onto the grass behind it, that’s ‘my’ garden.
I shall do you a spring one when it’s time.
Your ducks are right miserable buggers aren’t they, unlike the chickens who seem quite friendly – what you really need though is an airport on that hill opposite, every neighbourhood should have an airport on a hill one mile away, just like my neighbourhood for instance.
As John says, the ducks are a little highly strung. I’m plannign on trying to get them a little tamer once it gets a bit warmer and I can spend a bit of time out there.
And we do have an airport on the other side of the vally actually – albeit a bit smaller than yours.

dan my man….I am impressed…though I thinkyou should have done some yuletide bleeding singing as you went round!
loved seeing the ducks again!
give them my love!!!
and tell gary that my ex ducks are NOT miserable…just highly strung!!!! and well bred!
have a great Christmas mately
john
ps we sould slightly similar “on tape” me thinks
I’m not sure about the singing. I’m a bit embarrassed about how out of breath I sounded as it is.
I have passed on your love to the ducks. They said “quack”.
You do “sould” slightly similar to Mr Gray who inspired this blockbuster of a movie. I was hoping to see a couple of fat turkeys strutting around but perhaps they’ve already given their all for Xmas. You have got great views from your property. I always think that that is good for the soul. Makes you feel less hemmed in. Merry Christmas Dan! Don’t eat too much cow pie!
When I met John the other day I was a little disappointed he didn’t have a strong welsh accent.
As for Turkeys. I’m too soft to cull any of them so I’ve avoided getting anythign I’m supposed to eat at some point.
Fowl are hilarious to me, and made more so by giving them names like Natalie and Ginger. Your smallholding is very inspiring.
I love spying on other peoples’ gardens & houses (not in a stalky, sneaking around kind of way though you understand*), so I really enjoyed your rather dull video. It’#s still amn ambition of mine to raise chickens. Not sure about those ducks though! I recently had the bathroom redone & I now feel like a compete idiot for not keeping the old tub fopr a sunken pond! Looks like a great location, with great views. I may now have to do an even more dull video tour of my own garden
* “I haven’t been caught yet”
Bloody scary that video! The big black shadow creeping up the hill – no wonder the ducks legged it.
I mentioned your ducks and chickens to hubby the other day and he actually said he would like to have some too. Apparently a woman at his work has ex battery hens and brings in the eggs we get every week.
Will the temporary duck pond be getting a Facebook page soon? I have an inclination to like it.
