I’m pleased to say that Evan has been discharged from the hospital tonight so we are at home at last. He’d managed to stay off the oxygen today so the Doctor said we could go home when I was ready.
The last few days haven’t been that bad but it’s still not something I would have chosen to do. I’m looking forward to not being woken by alarms going off up and down the ward, but I don’t think I’ll get much sleep anyway as I’ll be checking Evan every 5 minutes.
Most people would lose weight with worry when their child was ill, however I reckon I’ve put half a stone on over the past 4 days. It was a combination of boredom, being awake most hours of the day and, because we were on a children’s ward, getting child size portions at meal times.
I think I’ve consumed approximately 3 packets of biscuits, 6 chocolate bars, 4 large hot chocolates, some crisps and countless cups of tea. I’d had enough by yesterday, asking Dan to bring me some fruit for a change and I even donated a bar of chocolate to the woman in the next room as I couldn’t bear to bring it home.
So now we’re home, and looking forward to things getting back to normal. Thanks for all the comments and texts wishing us well, we really appreciate it.

Good to hear you are back home. Must try and get together sometime in new year - off to Jersey next week for baby brothers wedding. I still haven’t forgotten about baby doll clothes - perhaps Santa could make a late visit to Amy ;-)

Kerry,Dan, I’m really pleased that the lads better.I’ve been following the blog (several times a day!)and have been praying for you (which, for a guy who gave up religion a few years ago suprised even me!!).

Haven’t seen you for ages Sandip, probably because I’m not as much of a party animal as you and Dave. I’m in bed by nine with a nice cup of hot chocolate these days.
You must come for dinner like we said a while ago, you too Morticia. Perhaps we should have a blog party. Of course I can’t guarantee the quality of the food and you’ll have to eat off your lap as we don’t have a dining table. Yes, we live like pigs.

Yay! You’re home. That’s wonderful news.
And if you don’t have a dining table, it’s time to head to IKEA! We got our table there for about $99 (probably about 50 British pounds).
Did you know the L pound symbol isn’t on American keyboards? How inconvenient.

It’s not a case of not affording a table, it’s case of having absolutely nowhere to put it. You know the room that you see when we have a web chat. Well that’s it, that’s our entire house.
Ok so we have a kitchen and three bedroom. And indoor toilets have finally reached the North of England last July. But if we had a dining table we would have to sacrifice the sofa.
We used to have a huge house in a very bad area, now we have a tiny house in a very good area. It was worth the swop, but sometimes it’s hard to entertain.

It’s not often that I’m lost for words, but reading all this has made me very emotional. We are so thankful you are home and some sense of normality can resume. Thank you for all the texts/posts keeping us updated. So looking forward to seeing you next week.

There is either the worried parent diet that results in a drop of 10lbs in 5 days or the lifejacket variation where it looks as if non-stop chocolate has caused someone to pull the inflater cord.
Congratulations on a safe return home.
