Introducing Evan Hughes

Our beautiful boy

Kerry was incredible throughout the whole labour. It was a lot more difficult than Amy’s delivery but she was exceptionally brave and got through it magnificently.

And now we have a son.

There is so much to say about the labour and the birth and how overwhelmed and ecstatic we are about welcoming our baby into the world; but all that will wait until another day. For now I have only this: Evan Hughes was born on the 20/10/06 at 21:47 weighing 8lb 10oz. Mother and baby are both doing well, and a new joy has entered our lives.

Congratulations! He is adorable. I’m not jealous, because I have two wonderful children, but I’m jealous, because he is so precious. You are so blessed. We wish the best for all of you as you begin this new adventure.

Wow, they’re so small when they come into the world! I’ve forgotten what that’s like. Congratulations to your whole family. Have fun!

  7. Congratulations to you all, thank you for our new grandson, we are very
proud and practising boasting already. We are so looking forward to meeting Evan later today (thats why I am awake this early). Another little person for you to nurture in every sense, he has a great future with parents like you, you are so brilliant with Amy, who is going to be a wonderful “big sister” – especially as she is now a “grown up” as she told me yesterday!

Congratulations to you all, Evan is beautiful. Alice has now got her eye on a toyboy, just like her mummy. I am having to type this as Mel’s eyes are leaking with emotion.

  16. Dan says:

Why do all of the Malcolm family insist on not using their names? Are you all on the run from the mob or something?

  17. Congratulations on the birth of your son! That first smile at 6 weeks will be worth all those sleepless nights(!)

  18. Bec (from Kerry's work) says:

Congrats Kerry, Dan and Amy on the birth of lovely Evan – Writing this on Tuesday am so hopefully you have had a good night’s sleep (well, as good as is poss with a 4-day old in the house!) I’d like to say it will get better, but my second (now 19mths) still regularly wakes up to have a chat in the middle of the night! Still, at least she can tell me what she wants now … Play, mummy, play…!

    luv Bec x

  19. Jon Z says:

Congratulations, Dan. Don’t let my tales of terror scare you too badly; ultimately, it’s better with two, since they eventually start playing with each other, thereby giving you a chance to, you know, have at least 60 uninterrupted seconds to, say, blow your nose or use the loo.

  20. Dan says:

Thanks to everybody for your words of congratulations. It’s nice to know there are so many people out there who wish us well.
