This week’s fat club report is delayed somewhat due to me forgetting to send an email to everyone asking for their results. I’ll post it up hopefully tomorrow

I’ve well and truly lost anyhow, with both Ian and Kerry leaping ahead of me yet again. Well bollocks to them, it’s a stupid contest anyway. Whoever suggested it in the first place is an idiot.

I’m going to go and eat another packet of Oreos in order to console myself.

In the meantime her is our families new favourite song from our new favourite album from our old favourite band. I defy you to not love this. If you have yet to check out They Might Be Giants excellent range of kids music then I strongly suggest you run out to the shops right now. I’d personally start with No! and then move to Here Comes the 123s and then Here Comes Science

In fact, I feel a children’s music podcast brewing…

Who am I?

My name's Dan and I live near Huddersfield in the North of England. I’m a 34 years old part time stay at home dad. For three days a week I'm also a community mental health nurse but you won’t find me blogging about that here. I’m married to Kerry and we have two children - Amy (6) and Evan (3). Some Vague Utopia. Hadrian's Walker Catherine has caved into per pressure and just started her own blog. And distressingly good it is too. already she's probably better than me. Damn.

All 11 Dr Whos unite for a special. It's just a pity that it's a 15 minute Children in need thing rather than a proper 2 hour extended episode.

I got this album for the kids the day it came out, and it hasn’t left the CD/DVD player since. They hate this song, however. Much more to their liking is “I Am a Paleontologist.” And “Roy G. Biv.” And now I’m singing . . .

@tysdaddy, Actually I must admit that i was lying a little bit – like your kids Amy doesn’t like this song very much. Evan and I love it though and dance along in the car.

Oh crap, sorry, I forgot it too. You’re right, it’s a stupid competition and the fact that I’ve put on 1lb isn’t colouring my opinion at all. Harumph.

it does sound like a future commercial song though (I like it) :P
Up till a couple of weeks ago I only knew their track ‘Istanbul not Constantinopel’ which is awesome btw.

I think that TMBG regular music is great for kids, as well. My daughter is older (13), and we didn’t get her many kids albums. But we listened to Flood quite a bit, and she loves most of it.

@J, Flood is a great album. Sometimes it takes a few listens to actually get into TMBG’s stuff, but once you’re in you tend to stay in.
