It’s oh so quiet

It seems that Diet Coke is to my creativity as Samson’s hair was to he strength. I gave up drinking the stuff a couple of weeks ago, and since then I’ve struggled to throw anything of worth up here.

Actually it’s probably a lot more complicated than that. There’s a lot of background noise in my life at the moment. None of it permanent, insurmountable, or able to be discussed on this blog; but it’s affecting me never the less. I’ve also been distracted by reconnecting with my 15 year old geek within and moving little men around a cardboard football pitch.

The nights are also getting longer, which means I’ve had to give up my morning walk as the lanes I traipse are far too narrow, unlit, and treacherous to risk encountering bleary eyed early morning commuters in the dark.

So it’s been quiet around here lately. And probably will be for a little while yet. But I’m not dead, just resting.

Unless of course I decide to run off to the Bahamas with everyone’s Hadrian’s Walk deposit money. Then just assume I’m dead and chalk it up to experience.

Oh my god, Dan. You gave up Diet Coke? I’m truly stunned. What led to this life-changing event?

I’d say you’ve been scarce. I posted an utterly fowl post the other day with YOUR name in it and I didn’t get so much as a cluck from you. But I completely understand… I’ve been in your quiet spot many times before. I say take advantage of it and just relax. Before you know it you’ll be puking out more nonsense than ever!

@Jeff, yes, this isn’t my first quiet spot. I took a entire month off last year. I’m just taking things steady. Blogging is no fun if it feels like an obligation.

Sure, nice try. I know you are a member of the Justice League and have been off saving the world recently. But I won’t tell. BTW, give my regards to Aquaman. He is awesome you know.

@dadwhowrites, I’ve been killing “the flood” on Halo 3 myself. and creeping myself out in the process.

Things will resolve themselves, they generally do. but for the time being my energy is at a rather low ebb.

Dan we all have these moments, and in the end you have a life. Your blog is a part of it, a fabulous part of it, but in the end it’s not as important as the other stuff. Chill, enjoy your Bloodbowl and Subuteo(??), and your wicked family, and if you buy a canoe with my dosh then can I have a go in it too?

And I really get the obligation thing. I’ve been struggling a bit this month too. We’ll be here when you feel like writing. Hugs to Kerry and the kids, and you can have a stiff handshake or a pat on the back or a small nod instead a hug ok? Take care.

@Jo Beaufoix, RSS is a wonderful thing.

I’ll be back properly eventually. I just didn’t want all the hadrians walkers to get worried about me disapearing from the blogosphere.
