i planted spud seeds on the 01/07/09,they started to come through 17th, the ground i planted in was coverd in green 3 leaf weeds
i,used verdone lawn weed killer,which says only kills weeds not any thing else,i have noticed that most of the sdud plants are still growing ,but some plants seem to have gone back.will they come on,is the other plants alright to let them grow on,i also have spuds growing in another area ,thet are flowering are they ready to left

@mo, I imagine the weed killer wouldn’t have done the spuds any good. When it says “only kills weeds” it probably just means “doesn’t kill grass”. To be honest I wouldn’t eat potatoes that have had weedkiller on them.

@Kevin Spencer, there's nothing quite like lifting up the soil to find them just lying there ready to be picked up. Great stuff.

I remember harvesting the spuds from my Dad’s garden when we were nippers. Glad to see some British traditions haven’t altered ;-)

Hats off to you. Your kids are getting so many great lessons in life just from seeing you do this. (Although they could include ‘How to put your back out’ if you keep digging like that.)
