Mmmm… radishy

I harvested and ate the first of this year’s vegetables yesterday: radishes. Hopefully there is sweetcorn, potatoes, runner beans, sugarsnap peas, pumpkin, lettuce, strawberrys, and pak-choi still to come. That’s if the damn slugs don’t get them first of course.
Also one of the chicken’s (Rosa) comb has started reddening up, which is apparently a sign that they are getting to age laying age. Perhaps I should start looking up recipes for radish omelets.

Xbox – Sarcastic swine. Yes, I had 10 radishes for my tea yesterday evening. I actually did pull them out a little early, but I was eager to taste the fruits of my labour.

Nice one, I had a crack at radish growing in my youth, but though successful, I realised – too late – that I didn’t like radishes.
No slugs on my pots or strawbs yet, and according to Springwatch this week, they are making a belated appearance this year.

Lee – Under your advice I went to the local taxidermist to get it stuffed, but for some reason he just laughed at me.
SingleParentDad – The slugs have eaten two of my sunflowwer plants and my whole crop of seedling lettuices, the bastards.
ImPerceptible – It’s not the size that matters, it’s what you do with them.
Yeah that’d be right. Damn uppity taxidermists – they can go get stuffed.
