The secret diary of Amy Hughes, aged five and a half

When Amy goes to bed she often takes a pen and paper with her so she can practice her writing. What can I say, we’re raising a genius here.

The other morning Amy presented us with her diary that she wrote on the previous evening.

Evre day we lfaf and pay Im am having fun wiv mi frens Aelly + Jyley + greg + deb rabs the cat.

Translation: “Every day we laugh and play. I’m having fun with my friends Allie, Julia, Greg, Deb, and Rabies the cat.”

It seems that the kids are having as good a time here as we are.

I’m undecided if that’s the new youngster talk or that she needs some more of that proper English education ;)

Arjan – Hey give her a chance, after only about 6 months of school that isn’t half bad. Well, better than me without a spell checker anyhow.

JJ Daddy O – She doens’t have her own phone, but she bloody has mine half the time. Quick tip, never show your kids how to work the games on your mobile.

xbox – That Greg sure is a card isn’t he. The other one is named Simon, which is a little more orthodox.

Whit – [a derogatory comment highlighting a negative trait shared by both my wife and daughter has been deleted in the cause of marriage harmonics]

James – She has picked up quite a few americanisms. Now we are home we are in the process of beating them out of her.

Who am I?

My name's Dan and I live near Huddersfield in the North of England. I’m a 34 years old part time stay at home dad. In July of 2010 we'll be walking the length of Hadrian's Wall in six days. That's 84 miles across the entire width of England.
