Project: Whenever I feel like it

Although it’s been a couple of weeks since Evan was last admitted to hospital it’s obvious that it is preying on his mind. Every time we get in the car he asks “No go hospital?” in a scared and pleading voice.

He also keeps talking about the “badge” he had put on the back of his hand (the IV needle) in a similarly frightened tone. I think having to hold him down while the nurses inserted it was one of the hardest things emotionally that i’ve ever done.

When I was little, about 3 or 4 I think, I cut my foot open in a rock pool on a beach in Ireland. I had to have stitches on the sole of my foot, but for some reason wasn’t given anesthetic. I don’t remember it, but my parents who had to restrain me whilst it was being done certainly do.

All of this has nothing to do with the photo above of course. I was only reminded it because this time it’s Evan perpetrating the mortal terror for a change. If you look closely you can make out a petrified Guinea Pig clamped in his “loving” embrace. The photo itself is horrendously out of focus, but for some reason I like it anyway.

There has also been some news on the parcel front. I can now expect it some time between the 18th and 22nd of December. Despite all your encouragement to the contrary, Greg has decided against sending me a pink one. He’s gone with yellow instead, which is much more fitting for a man of my status. I do have a horrible suspicion that it might also be covered in fruit, but only time will tell.
